Payment of Unemployment Insurance Benefit to Earthquake Victims

 The following special measures will be implemented regarding the payment of unemployment insurance to earthquake victims.
(1) Special measures on unemployment insurance at the time of disaster
*To be eligible, you must be insured by unemployment insurance for more than 6 months.
① If you are unable to receive wages since your employment has been interrupted or lost as a direct result of a major disaster, you are eligible to receive unemployment benefit even if you are not actually out of work. (Out of business)
② If you are forced to take leave of absence since your employer located in the designated disaster-relief act area is affected as a direct result of a major disaster and your job has been interrupted or lost, you are eligible to file a claim for unemployment insurance benefit even if reemployment is scheduled after your employer is back in business. (Leave of Absence).

・If this is the case, please obtain “Leave of Absence” or “Separation Notice” from your employer and bring it to Hello Work. (Consult with Hello Work if there is a difficulty in obtaining the document from the employer.)

(2) “Unemployment Certification Date” for individuals who cannot visit Hello Work
If you are currently receiving unemployment benefit and unable to visit designated Hello Work on the specified unemployment certification date as a result of a disaster, you can contact Hello Work by telephone and reschedule unemployment certification date.

(3) Filing a claim at a Hello Work located other than your resident area
In the event public transportation is not available or you have been evacuated to other area and unable to visit the Hello Work in your resident area, you may file a claim for unemployment insurance benefit at a local Hello Work near you.
