Regarding the Limitation of Tap Water for Infants to Intake

At approximately 14:30 on March 23, the officials in Tokyo announced that radioactive iodine-131 was detected twice as much as the limit for infants (the age of less than one year old) to intake at the city’s supply.

It was advised to all residents in the Tokyo’s 23 wards and 5 cities: including Musashino-shi, Machida-shi, Tama-shi, Inagi-shi and Mitaka-shi: not for infants to intake any tap water through powdered milk dissolved in tap water.

On March 22, the Health Ministry announced that higher-than-normal levels of radioactive iodine-131 were detected in tap water in Date-shi, Kooriyama-shi, Tamura-shi, Minamisouma-shi, Kawamata-machi in Fukushima prefecture; and each local government is advised that infants shouldn’t intake tap water. The government is planning on continuing the inspection.

*Regarding Iitate-mura, the Health Ministry has continued on demanding residents who have small-scale water supply systems not to drink their tap water as from March 20.
