Submit your application for change of address to the postal service

Evacuees, who have changed address, should notify a new address to the postal service. The postal service will forward your mails to the new address for 1year without charge. They can forward your mails to any evacuation sites in Japan such as schools and churches.

The municipal office will send you a various paperwork regarding payment procedure for aid money, certification for a damaged house, and so on. Therefore, if you move to a new address, you must submit your application for change of address. You can get application for change of address at the evacuation sites or the nearest post office. ○What you need to submit your application for change of address.
1. I.D. such as alien registration card, drivers license, any health insurance card,
2. Documents that are issued at public offices such as alien registration card, driver’s license or passport in order to confirm your OLD address.

○What you write on your application for change of address.
1. The date you moved.
2. The beginning date you want your mails to be forwarded.
3. Your old address.
4. Name of all people who moved to the new address.
5. How many people will stay at the old address, if any.
6. Your new address.
7. Name of the person who submits the application and relations if defers from the applicant.

This change of address procedure has nothing to do with the registration of the foreign residence’s change of address procedure.
