Operation schedule announcement for concluding Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident

Tokyo Electric Power Corporation (TEPCO) announced the operation schedule for concluding Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant accident on Apr 17th. TEPCO set the following two objectives to realize the evacuees to return their home.
They basically will work on establishing stabilized cooling state of reactors and spent fuel pool , and reducing the discharge of radiological material

●Step 1
Objective: The discharge of radiological material is on the decrease steadily
Targeted period: 3 months (mid-July, 2011)

●Step 2
Objective: The discharge of radiological material is under control and the amount of radiation is reduced substantially
Targeted period: After 3 to 6 months of the close of Step 1 (mid-October, 2011 to mid-January, 2012)

It is predicted that it would take 6 to 9 months at least for the government to lift the evacuation order for the residents living in the vicinity of Fukushima nuclear plant even TEPCO’s plan will be on target.
