Watch for illegal (fraudulent) businesses practices

At the time of the confusion of society occurred by the disaster of an earthquake, illegal business practices or frauds that take advantage of fears or people’s good nature are likely to take place. They take place not only in the affected area but also in the surroundings.

Below are examples. Please watch out not to be a victim.

○ Charity fraud
Calling oneself a staff member of “Japan Red Cross (Nihon Sekijyuji)” or groups that really exist, and ask for donation.

○ Home repair fraud
Prompting fears of residents telling “your house is needed to be repaired right now” and making people sign an expensive contract.

○ Selling daily necessary goods at a higher price
Selling at a higher price with saying “daily necessaries like batteries, gas etc. will not be available soon.”

○Pretending a volunteer
Pretending as if he or she was a volunteer with saying “how can I help you?” and asking for an expensive charge after serving.
